This case is about a woman who have been in love with a man for many years, after having two children, the man decided to abandoned her and get legally married with another one, denied her rights to properties.
LOH received the case and allocated a lawyer to claim the right to properties for the woman including the rights for her beautiful children.
This is the case that has been brought by a lady to Lawyers of Hope seeking for legal advice which later became legal representation; they were living as a husband and wife for 7 years but without celebrating the civil marriage and they had two beautiful children during this period that they lived together they gained together different properties.
The lady was given a lawyer for legal representation and the case was tried before the competent court, and the lady has been given justice because this man who they lived together for 7years was denying her rights to the properties that they acquired together. Thanks to Rwandan laws which have considered unmarried couples' rights to share equally the property acquired together otherwise this lady would go with nothing other than children and the husband accumulates all the properties that she has contributed to its acquisition.
It was decided by the court that a house to be sold and share equally the money from the house. Court has decided that all 3 pieces of lands should be equally shared if not they should be sold and share money.
It has decided that the husband should give Sylvie 20 000 F for each month as the alimony of their 2 children.
